For a follow-up to their acclaimed 2009 album By A Thread, Gov't Mule decided to do something completely different.  After they finished recording eleven new muscular, soul infused tracks they rang up eleven of their favorite musicians to re-sing each of the songs, creating a double album they decided to call Shout!  The two-disc set, which marks the group's debut for the legendary Blue Note Records, features one disc with lead vocals by band leader Warren Haynes and a second CD with vocals by a diverse array of artists including Elvis Costello, Grace Potter, Steve Winwood, Dave Mathews, Dr. John, Ben Harper, Toots Hibbert, Glen Hughes and Jim James among others.
