The second night started with a solid 1-2-3 opening of “Statesboro,” a fiery “Splinters,” and “Trouble No More.”  Warren stepped to the fore for “Who‘s Been Talkin’,” a signature tune for this line-up and an early highlight, with Derek and Warren trading sweet, tiny lines on the intro and outro sections. In “Dusk Till Dawn,” Warren took us all down the rabbit hole, and the band tumbled in after him. “Black Hearted Woman” was a powerful, runaway freight train of furious jamming, and for the second night in a row, the band tossed in an impromptu “Will the Circle Be Unbroken?” This time, out of the extended “The Other One” style jam at the end of “Black Hearted Woman,” the guitar players pulled up into another lovely instrumental run through “Circle,” before leading the band back to finish out the jam. It was an unabashed highlight.

The second set featured crowd pleasers “Melissa” and “Southbound.” “The Same Thing” was a guitar manifesto; “Come and Go Blues” featured some light, airy solos from Warren on the break, while Derek played tart counterpoint to Gregg’s vocal lines on the verse. The set closed with a big, thunderous “Mountain Jam,” full of Oteil’s rumble and punctuated by a drum section that sounded like life itself… and “One Way Out” was the only song repeated from the night before.
