The Juke Hounds personify three generations of blues. Their roots are firmly planted in history, and their contemporary vision not only preserves, but also advances the treasured art form. Don Fischer writes original music for the band, like “Love, Love, Love” and “Everyday Man” that appear on their debut CD. You’ll also hear him singing bona fide Texas blues classics from Lightnin’ Slim and Lazy Lester. His bass lines keep the musical freight train on track, and his vocals embody the authentic Texas-twang. Brandon “Mad Dog” Matheson is a rugged individual. A madman behind the drums, he commands attention and always puts on a show! He can be heard singing harmony with Fischer or taking the spotlight with his own heart-felt renditions of Elmore James and Little Walter. The guitar torch burns bright with young Stachela, who interprets these classics with authority. Few guitar players possess the touch, skill, and musical background to connect with the human spirit. Johnny’s soulful licks and slippery slide calls legendary predecessors to mind; yet he is clearly stretching the boundaries with his own unique style. In short, the JukeHounds deliver the “big show!” It’s rough and rowdy blues at its finest.
