Maybe it's because we are usually heading to Spirit of Suwannee Music Park around this time of year, but we've got Wanee on the brain! This year's festival promises to be the best one ever, and here are the "Top Ten Reasons to Go to Wanee."

1) Two nights of the Allman Brothers Band
2) The spectacular natural beauty of Spirit of Suwannee Music Park
3) Derek Trucks' annual Midnight Jam, always a highlight of the festival
4) Trying to guess how many different bands Warren Haynes will sit in with
5) The Arc Angels reunion, featuring Charlie Sexton and Doyle Bramhall II
6) Reggae legends the Wailers will perform the Exodus album in its entirety
7) New Orleans groovemasters the Radiators kick off the party Thursday night, and New Orleans knows how to get the party started
8) HTN favorite Susan Tedeschi will play her first-ever solo set at Wanee
9) All the extended family bands, from Jaimoe's Jasssz Band to Devon Allman's Honeytribe, give the weekend the feeling of a family reunion
10) Last but not least, the friendship and camaraderie between all the fans

And that doesn't even include acoustic guitar master Jorma Kaukonen, the inspired musical madness of Col. Bruce Hampton, and so much more! If you haven't already got your tickets, what are you waiting for? Click here and we'll see you there!

Speaking of awesome festivals that you would be crazy to miss, Mountain Jam has announced the daily lineup, and has added some great new bands! You should also know that they are selling single day tickets, in case you can't make the whole weekend.

Friday's highlights include a full two-set performance by Gov't Mule, prog-rock wizards Umphrey's McGee, the jamgrass sounds of Railroad Earth, and the New Orleans funk of Porter, Batiste, and Stoltz, plus many more. And that is just the first day!

Saturday is action-packed as well, from the gospel jams of the Lee Boys to the psychedelic astronauts Coheed and Cambria. Karl Denson's Tiny Universe will be playing a special late-night set after Gov't Mule's headlining show, and the rest of the day is packed with HTN-approved artists like Jackie Greene, John Medeski and Buzz Universe.

Of course, Sunday is the main event in many ways, with the Mountain Jam debut of the Allman Brothers Band! The ABB will be fresh off their first West Coast tour in years, so this should be a great show to see. The Derek Trucks Band also makes their first Mountain Jam appearance on this day, and there are plenty of other great acts, including Michael Franti and Spearhead and BK3, featuring Bill Kreutzmann of the Dead.

We look forward to seeing you all at Hunter Mountain! Check out the Mountain Jam website at www.mountainjam.com for more details and ticket information.

Many of you read about Jimmy Herring's recent solo record Lifeboat in Issue 59 of Hittin' the Note magazine. We are thrilled to announce that Jimmy is doing his first-ever solo tour in support of this fine record! Mr. Herring will be touring with the same all-star band that recorded much of Lifeboat, including Oteil Burbridge, Kofi Burbridge and Jeff Sipe. This tour should produce some of the best live music of the year

Jimmy's dynamic, exploratory guitar work has been a key component of such renowned groups as the Aquarium Rescue Unit, Jazz is Dead, Project Z, and, most recently, Widespread Panic - with whom he still plays lead guitar. Much esteemed by his fellow musicians, Jimmy has also performed with Phil Lesh and Friends, the Allman Brothers, and the Dead.

If any of you haven't already bought Lifeboat, or know a friend who needs to have a copy, we have a special offer for this tour. Everyone who buys Lifeboat on our website between now and Wednesday gets a chance to win two free tickets to the Jimmy Herring show of their choice! Thanks to Jimmy and the good folks at Abstract Logix for making this offer available. By the way, www.abstractlogix.com has lots of great jazz, fusion and other cool music for your listening pleasure. Here are the tour dates...

One of the most popular items we have ever offered at Hittin' the Note has been our deluxe afghan throw with the inside artwork from Eat a Peach displayed in all its psychedelic magnificence. We are happy to announce that we are now offering a new version to commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the Allman Brothers Band!

This throw has everything our customers liked about the first one – the wide variety of colors, the warmth, and the exquisite rendering of one of the greatest pieces of album art of all time. For this version we have featured the front cover of Eat a Peach, with the iconic peach truck graphic, as well as the dates 1969 and 2009 and the ABB band logo on top, with "40th Anniversary" proudly displayed at the bottom of the throw.

This image may be the single most popular one in the entire Allman Brothers graphic universe, so this throw is sure to go fast! Click here to get yours today!

It would be an understatement to say that we have been overwhelmed by the positive response to our announcement about the Beacon CDs! We knew our customers would be excited about hearing the ABB Live soundboard/audience mixes from this legendary run, but even so, we have been pleasantly surprised by the strong reaction. Thank you so much for your support!

We still anticipate delivery of these CDs in May, and the Beacon Box will obviously not ship out until we get all 15 shows from the manufacturer, plus the special custom-made boxes that are being manufactured for approval as we speak. It may be more like the end of May before we start shipping the Beacon Boxes out. However, the old saying rings true: the best things in life are well worth the wait! Please also know that we will be manufacturing the 40th Anniversary show and the Clapton shows first given the demand is so high.

We have also been thrilled by the positive response to Tommy Talton's new CD, Live Notes From Athens. It is an honor to put out the music of this living legend, and this CD captures Tommy's talent better than any other to date. All of his many skills are on display here, from ripping guitar work to profound songwriting to fresh interpretations of other people's songs.

With all the recent Beacon excitement, we wanted to make sure this excellent recording didn't get lost in the shuffle. Any Cowboy and/or Tommy Talton fan must have this CD, or their life just won't be complete. Don't let that happen to you! Act now and prevent yourself from becoming another statistic. Last but certainly not least, we are proud to announce a new auction to benefit the kids of our late Publisher, Bill Ector. This awesome painting by Lennie Jones, one of our favorite artists, was specifically donated by Lennie to benefit the Ector Education Fund.

The way the auction works is pretty simple. It is your standard auction, with the highest bid as of May 15th winning the painting. We will ship the painting to the winner, or we could deliver it to you at either Mountain Jam and/or Wanee, which would be the best option, should the winner be at either event.

Just click here to place a bid, and thanks again for your generous support of Bill's children since his untimely passing last July. We are lucky and blessed to be part of such a wonderful community!

Join us at www.hittinthenote.com as we celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Allman Brothers Band all year long!
