It is probably our single most requested item over
the years, and now, with the blessing of Duane Allman's
estate, we are proud to present THE official Duane
Allman T-shirt! This stylish front-and-back design features the
Skydog in full flight on the front, with the following quote on
the back, taken from Duane's diary entry for January 1st,
1969:
"This year I will be more thoughtful of my fellow man, exert
more effort in each of my endeavors professionally as well as
personally. Take love where ever I find it, and offer it to everyone
who will take it. In this coming year I will seek knowledge from
those wiser than me and try to teach those who wish to learn from
me. I love being alive and I will be the best man I possibly can."
We are humbled and honored to be able to offer this great shirt,
and just in time for the Allman Brothers Band's 40th Anniversary.

Do you have cabin fever? Has the long winter got you down? Ready
to soak up that festival vibe, start the outdoor music season,
and boogie down in a beautiful natural setting? Have we got a
festival for you! Please accept our invitation to the Keel Family
Function at Cherokee Farms in Lafayette, GA, on April 3rd and
4th.
This festival is a paradise for the discerning music lover, full
of underrated musicians who may not top the pop charts, but are
the absolute best at what they do. Festival namesake Larry Keel
is an icon of the bluegrass scene, a Zen master of acoustic guitar
who can play circles around better-known players. If you are unfamiliar
with Larry, and have any affinity for bluegrass whatsoever, that
alone would make the Family Function must-hear entertainment.
You'll thank us later!
Speaking of underappreciated musical legends; the one and only
Col. Bruce Hampton will be there with a special, one-time-only
band consisting of Jeff "Apt. Q-258" Sipe on drums,
Hammond B-3 master Ike Stubblefield on keys, and jazz royalty
Grant Green Jr. on guitar. Many of Bruce's partners in crime
will be in attendance, such as Rev. Jeff Mosier and Blueground
Undergrass, so look for lots of sit-ins and special guests for
this unique performance.
As if that wasn't enough, voodoo swamp guitar master Papa
Mali will be there, as well as perennial HTN favorite Donna Hopkins,
talented singer-songwriter Ralph Roddenbery (as seen in the latest
issue of HTN), and many, many more. Did we mention that all this
only costs $40? No, that is not a misprint, and in this economy,
the price is certainly right.

the festival! |

Jeff
Wood of Drowning Creek Studios has done it again! One of America's
finest poster artists has created not one, but two incredible
new works of art to commemorate the Allman Brothers 40th Anniversary.
We have proudly carried Jeff's posters for years, and he
has outdone himself this time. The mushroom poster uses a new
3-D printing technique called "lenticular" printing,
which gives it amazing depth. With any great poster, an image
on a computer doesn't capture the actual poster, and it's
certainly true with this 3-D poster. If you think the 2-D image
looks cool, the actual poster may just blow your mind!
Jeff also did the fine old-school screen print you see for the
Beacon shows. Every color on the poster requires a different screen,
and the result is a poster with a great sense of texture to it.
As always, Wood's work is printed on the finest high-quality
poster stock. Click
here to order both posters today!
We are thrilled to announce that we will be working closely with
Drowning Creek in the future on several projects, including some
exciting new portrait posters of your favorite artists. Stay
tuned for more details! |
If
you thought the lineup for the Fifth Annual Mountain Jam festival
was already epic with Gov't Mule, the Allman Brothers Band
and the Derek Trucks Band, make sure you're sitting down
before you read on. Rising prog-jam stars Umphrey's McGee, the
Grateful Dead's Bill Kreutzmann trio featuring Oteil Burbridge
and Scott Murawski, and esteemed jazz/funk ensemble Karl Denson's
Tiny Universe all have joined the growing lineup, along with many,
many more esteemed acts. A tremendous festival just got even better!
Ticket information and a full list of confirmed acts are available
at www.mountainjam.com.
Bill Kreutzmann's appearance is part of Mountain Jam's
tribute to the original Woodstock Music & Arts Festival, which
took place 40 years ago in nearby Bethel, NY, and anyone who has
seen his new trio with Oteil and Scott knows how great this will
be! Festival sponsor Radio Woodstock, who started Mountain Jam
as a one-time event to celebrate their 25th Anniversary, have
gone the extra mile to pay tribute to that legendary event. Folk
icon Richie Havens, who opened that famed festival, will also
help Mountain Jam pay tribute to the most important festival of
the rock and roll generation.
Besides three full, action-packed days of music, Mountain Jam
will also host outdoor late night performances on both Friday
and Saturday nights. These "under the stars" performances
will complement the festival's already popular late night
offerings in the enclosed Hunter Mountain Lodge, providing plenty
of musical excitement well into the wee hours.
Mountain Jam passes are now available at www.mountainjam.com
for $139.50 or $159.50 for a festival pass/camping combo. A limited
number of VIP tickets will be offered at $379.50. A very small
number of RV tickets are available at $175, plus a camping festival
ticket. Single day tickets will be available at a later date –
there will be no Friday Only single-day tickets issued. See you
on the mountain! |

It's something that has been a dream of ours
since the dawn of the computer age. Wouldn't it be great
if we could take some of our most popular sold-out issues and
offer them on the web in digital form? It is such a shame that
so many of our readers have never had a chance to read some of
our best and most popular past issues, and it would be great to
use the power of the web to put them "back in print."
After many hours of long work by HTN Founding Editor Ron Currens,
that day has finally arrived! We now have PDF's of every
sold-out issue of Hittin' the Note, including such prized
specimens as the legendary Duane Allman cover!
Just click
here to browse the available issues, and if you see one you
like, download the PDF and either view it on your home computer,
or print it out if you like the feel of an actual print magazine.
We are so happy to be able to offer this to you, and enjoy exploring
these long-lost treasures! |

Last but not least, we want to mention that while supplies last, we will be
including a copy of the 32 page Beacon program with every Beacon t-shirt
order. These special souvenir programs have been a big hit at the Beacon,
and are a perfect way to celebrate 40 years of the Allman Brothers Band.
Inside the program you will read about the closing night of the Fillmore
East, Clapton talking about Duane and a very special 20 year summary of the
historic ABB Beacon run by Josh Chasin. If you have already ordered your Beacon merchandise just mention this offer in your next order from Hittin' the Note by adding a comment in the order comments section and we will send it to you! Thanks for your support!
