Gov't Mule is embarking on an exciting new musical journey, so get on board! Rejuvenated by the addition of new bassist Jorgen Carlsson, the band headed into the studio earlier this year to cut By a Thread, their first studio album since 2006, and the results are stunning! The soulful vocals, penetrating guitar work, and thoughtful songwriting of Warren Haynes are all here, proving he is arguably the most complete musician in rock music today. Carlsson and drummer Matt Abts combine to make a rhythm section as solid and heavy as a granite mountainside, and Danny Louis really makes his mark on this album, contributing to the songwriting and playing guitar on several tunes, in addition to his usual role as keyboardist.  From the Texas groove of "Broke Down on the Brazos" to the psychedelia of "Monday Mourning Meltdown," a full spectrum of musical threads are woven together into a tapestry that is pure Gov't Mule.

You might want to considering ordering HTN #61 along with this incredible new CD.  This special issue (click on image for table of contents) includes an in-depth cover story interview with Warren Haynes talking about the new CD in a track by track review along with comments about his 20 years with the Allman Brothers Band, playing with Eric Clapton, Derek Trucks and the Dead.
