After Widespread Panic played one of their best sets of the tour, the ABB rose to the challenge in Maryland with a fiercely powerful show!  Lots of special guests and several memorable jams made this one for the history books.

First off, any show that has "One Way Out" in the first three songs is destined for greatness.  Usually reserved for the encore spot, it only seems to show up that early at special shows.  A great version "The Sky Is Crying," with Danny Louis adding some almost Thelonius Monk-esque piano, really took the show to the next level.  The band stayed there for "Dreams," then blew the roof off Merriweather Post Pavilion with an electrifying "Gilded Splinters" that featured John Bell and Sunny Ortiz of Widespread Panic.  Furious percussion jams, relentless groove, jaw-dropping slide exchanges between Warren and Derek--this might be the highlight of the show.

Susan Tedeschi sang an achingly beautiful version of Dylan's "Don't Think Twice (It's Alright)" before Jimmy Herring, Todd Nance and Ron Holloway joined her on stage for a powerful "Southbound" that saw 11 people on stage!  "Melissa" was a nice change of pace before the stretch run, which began with a ripping "Stand Back."

The "Mountain Jam/Dazed and Confused" combo was a hot jam, as always, with Danny Louis handling keyboard duties for this segment of the show.  Any Allman Brothers fan enjoys a good "Whipping Post" encore, and this one was GREAT!  Tremendous group dynamics, with jams dropping from a raging torrent to a gentle whisper in the blink of an eye.  You will want to hear this one!
