Boyer and Thurman have put in many years writing together, and Ok, How About This represents some of the duo’s finest work to date. These songs emerged from frequent Monday night collaborations over a long stretch. “NC and I wrote these songs over a span of five years with some help from a few other noteworthy songwriters, like Donnie Fritts and Spooner Oldham,” Boyer explained.

As highly-regarded session players all across the South, and as bandmates in the Decoys, Boyer and Thurman bring another dimension of musicianship and artistry to their craft with the release of Ok, How About This.  Soul is the essence of this collection - backwoods Alabama, whisky-tinged, fat back thumping, gnarly, down home, chicken pickin’, Muscle Shoals soul. This quality taps the listener’s emotions - sometimes euphoric, other times disheartened, but always deeply moved.

Don’t look for lavish production, string sections or multiple overdubs on this album. What you will find is great music stripped down to its bare essence, music confirming that Boyer-Thurman compositions gel firmly. Though the styles vary from beginning to end, the grooves are insistent, smooth and tight.

Some of the numbers on Ok, How About This may have been written with other artists in mind.  As the music unfolds, it’s  easy to imagine any number of Southern luminaries recording these songs. The hope here is that the right people will hear what this duo has to offer because there is so much to consider. It is no wonder that “Silence Ain’t Golden Anymore” and “Don’t Hit Me No More” have already been recorded by Gregg Allman and Jimmy Hall, respectively. It’s clear that someone is listening.
