Dave Stoltz, bass player extraordinaire for both Dickey Betts and Jaimoe, has given us the gift of ten original compositions on this release.  Each song seems to be a thoughtful contemplation with worthy inspiration.  Ten songs that soothe the soul...as only jazz can do.

Two of the tunes that appear on Jaimoe's Jasssz Band's Renaissance Man are present on this CD - "Simple Man" and "Friendship." It is interesting to hear the slightly different arrangements by the composer and to note that Jaimoe and Kris Jensen (from JJB) are guests on other tunes besides these.

"Simple Man" is dedicated to the memory of Joe Dan Petty.  "More For Les" is dedicated to Dave's good friend, Les Paul.  “J.J.’s Song” is played in memory of James Jamerson and "Spirit Dance" is dedicated to the soul within each of us.  Worthy inspiration indeed.
