Susan Tedeschi lovers rejoice! HTN's favorite blueswoman is all over this show, adding her soulful vocals and guitar to FIVE songs, and she has never sounded better! These versions of "Little By Little" and "Lost Lover Blues" really allow Mrs. Derek Trucks to shine. Never before had the ABB given Susan so much of the spotlight, and as she always does, Susan rose to the challenge.
Of course, Susan wasn't the only special guest at this concert. Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes Horns were also in attendance, adding some brass firepower to everything from "The Same Thing" to "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down." Keyboard legend Bruce Hornsby also added a lot to this show, including a great version of his tune "Grandma's Hands," which also featured Susan and the Juke Horns. The real standouts for Hornsby were fantastic versions of "Jessica" and "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed," with his jazzy piano playing recalling the great renditions of these songs from the early 70s with Chuck Leavell on the keys.
By the time the show wrapped up with a "Southbound" encore, featuring Susan, Bruce AND the Juke Horns, the ABB had created another magnificent work of musical art!
