Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, the 2008 ABB Live Summer Set boxes have arrived! We have to say that this year's edition may be the best-looking one yet. The rich walnut grain, the crisp gold ABB logo, the sharp and functional brass latch, all combine to make this a very classy item. With the serial numbers burned right into the wood, these are truly a collector's item.

Not to mention that this was probably the best year the current lineup has ever had. Playing with passion and precision, they picked up after Gregg's health-related hiatus like they had never been gone, and played some of the best shows we have ever seen!

We have less than 20 unsold 2008 ABB Summer Sets left that we can deliver before Christmas. We will make more sets in January of next year but the price will be slightly higher. Click here to place your order now! If you have already put down a deposit, click here to pay the remaining balance.

We will begin shipping these box sets next week via UPS. Please be sure to provide a shipping address where someone can sign for the delivery of this extraordinary package!

Besides being a part of the Allman Brothers Band's rhythmic foundation for nearly 40 years, Jaimoe has a nearly limitless musical appetite that includes jazz, blues and R&B. When he is not on the road with the ABB, Jaimoe's Jasssz Band is his primary vehicle for exploring other aspects of his muse. Featuring excellent players like Jay Collins of Gregg Allman and Friends, David Stoltz of Dickey Betts and Great Southern, and guitar slinger and vocalist Junior Mack, this is a true all-star band. Playing mainly in his home state of Connecticut, these gigs have become a special treat for New England Peach-heads, and for years we have had people asking if this outstanding ensemble would ever release a CD.

Well, not only are they releasing a CD, they are releasing TWO jam-packed double-disc live sets! These great performances are quite different from each other, but they are both fantastic. The 1/28/06 show from the Double Down Grill features the talented Junior Mack on guitar, and Set One has great versions of the Meters classics "Cissy Strut" and "Hey Pocky Way," as well as a bluesy take on "Steady Rollin' Man." Set Two is jazzier, with stellar renditions of Dizzy Gillespie's "Night In Tunisia" and Wayne Shorter's "Footprints," as well as an electrifying version of "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed."

The 2/27/08 show, dedicated to the memory of legendary jazz drummer Ed Blackwell, is a passionate performance that shows Jaimoe paying homage to one of his primary influences. The delicate "Twilight Waltz" and a haunting version of "People Get Ready" are highlights of the first set, while John Coltrane's "Impressions" and Sam Cooke's "A Change Is Gonna Come" make Set Two an incredible musical journey. We expect to receive these CDs around the end of the year but you can download the shows now. Click here for sound clips and order these incredible shows today!

The Big House Foundation will present the second annual Macon Holiday Jam Friday, Dec. 19 to benefit the Mentors Project of Bibb County and "Give a Peach" canned food drive. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the concert will begin at 7 p.m. at the Cox Capitol Theatre, 382 Second St. in downtown Macon.

The all-star musicians' lineup will include guitarist, saxophonist, vocalist, songwriter and HTN favorite Randall Bramblett; singer-songwriter and guitarist Caroline Aiken with renowned European harmonica wizard Ben Bouman; ace fiddler David Blackmon and pedal steel guitarist Mark Van Allen. Fittingly enough, a number of Macon musicians are lending their talents as well, including Scott Baston and Will Robinson of Moonshine Still fame; Chris Hicks, from the legendary Marshall Tucker Band; and renown Capricorn Records producer and keyboardist supreme Paul Hornsby.

Tickets are on sale now and are $10 in advance or $15 at the door. VIP sponsor tables for four are $250. Concert goers also are asked to bring canned or dry goods that will be distributed by New City Church to the food pantries of the Macon Rescue Mission, the Salvation Army and the Middle Georgia Baptist Association.

The good folks at Munck Music have been recording the Allman Brothers live shows for the past two years, and we have been happy to work with such a devoted group of music fanatics. And we thought we were the only ones!

Of course, Munck works with many other artists, and you might want to check out the great live shows they have from bands like Little Feat, and Bruce Hornsby. Among other things, Munck Music has been the official live recording provider for the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival for many years, and their collection of great shows from this legendary festival - INCLUDING 3 GRAMMY NOMINATED RECORDINGS - is enough to make your head spin!

Check out www.munckmusic.com to see what they have to offer, or click on any of the highlighted bands above to see shows from that band. Happy Holidays to our friends at Munck, and we'll see you on the road next year!

Last but not least, we are offering a special Holiday Sale on the Heavenly Jams Band CDs, featuring Yosi Piamenta, the "Hasidic Hendrix." Until the end of the year, both of their CDs are only $10 apiece, and are the perfect Hanukkah gift for the music lover in your life. The 6/16/06 Crash Mansion show with Oteil Burbridge shows the ABB bassist in a different light, adding vocals to "Manic Depression" and riffing on the Eastern sounds of tunes like "Agadelcha." Bridging the Gap features Yonrico Scott, Kofi Burbridge and Todd Smallie from the Derek Trucks Band, along with special guest Andrew Black and Barry Richman, and they make a joyful noise indeed! This version of "Mitzvah" is guaranteed to make your hair stand on end.

Chuck Leavell's What's In That Bag? is another perfect holiday gift, with the former ABB keyboardist playing jazzy renditions of all your favorite Christmas tunes. Don't forget to check out our New Stuff page for some new compilations from some of our favorite artists, including Susan Tedeschi and Dickey Betts! And, we have some sizzling sales going down in the Ludlow Garage section of our website.

Last but certainly not least, make sure to get your Xmas orders in by next Friday, December 19th, if you want them to go out by Saturday December 20th, which is the Post Office deadline for First Class Mail to arrive by Christmas.

Thanks so much for your support in 2008, and all of us at Hittin' the Note wish you a wonderful holiday season!
