Hittin' the Note is excited to announce that the Wanee Festival Allman Brothers Band Live CDs are almost here! We apologize for the delay, but we wanted to make sure the sound quality equaled the quality of the performance. Now that we've done a little sonic surgery to remove the high wind noise, the CDs are being manufactured as you read this. Both shows were full of great classics, new jams, and the dynamic interplay between members that makes the ABB the best live band in the land. From the "Les Brers" opener on Friday night to the "Mountain Jam>Whipping Post" encore on Saturday, there is a lot here to feast your ears on! If you order both shows, we will include a copy of the snazzy Wanee program that we produced for the festival, while supplies last. Click https://hittinthenote.com/cart/c-110-2007.aspx to order! Be sure to check out the 2007 Wanee Poster by Lindsey Rodgers by clicking on the poster image below.

Speaking of Wanee, we have several new web features up on hittinthenote.com, including a photo collage of the 2007 Wanee Fest, comprised of the brilliant images from the cameras of Lindsey Rogers and C. Michael Stewart. We also have an engaging story on blues legend Pinetop Perkins, and our archive feature is from Issue #24 on guitarist Jimmy Nalls of Sea Level. Also, be on the lookout for a write-up on Jazz Fest 2007 by HTN's George Henry. We're expanding our web content, and from now on you can expect to see many more new stories every month on hittinthenote.com.

The motto of the 10,000 Lakes Festival is "Music, Nature, Euphoria" and here at Hittin' the Note we are big fans of all three! Besides Gov't Mule and the Derek Trucks Band, this year's festival, scheduled for July18-21, features a diverse lineup of great artists, from Ratdog and moe. to Blueground Undergrass and Zappa Plays Zappa. Thanks to the good folks at 10KLF, we have two VIP passes to give away to this fine gathering! These deluxe tickets not only get you into the festival, they get you into the VIP camping area directly behind the main stage, and they entitle you to free meals. Send an email to [email protected] for details. One lucky winner will be chosen from all the entries. Simply answer a few simple questions, and you could be hanging out backstage with the rest of the Very Important People! Click http://10klf.com/ for details about 10KLF. Be sure to ask for your Hittin' the Note magazine at all of the general stores on site!

The Wakarusa festival in Kansas has yet another sensational lineup this year, featuring one of our favorites, Widespread Panic. Check out HTN # 52 for a great interview with Jimmy Herring, the newest member of the jam band supergroup, plus some personal insight from WSP bass player Dave Schools. Of course, the fun doesn't stop there, with a host of musical magic, courtesy of groups like JJ Grey and MOFRO, the North Mississippi All-Stars, Little Feat, Railroad Earth, Galactic, Tea Leaf Green, Perpetual Groove and many more! Click http://wakarusa.com/2007/tickets.asp to order tickets, and check out the HTN tent under the big top at the Harrah's Voodoo Stage.

This year Hittin' the Note celebrates our 15th anniversary, and in honor of that we have reprinted our first 15 issues, which have been sold out for a long, long time. Click https://hittinthenote.com/cart/showcategory.aspx?categoryid=62&pagenum=2 if you want to have a copy of these rare collectors' items, featuring stories on everything from the early days of the band in Macon, Georgia to the ABB induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!

For many of us, our first exposure to Vassar Clements was his playing with Dickey Betts on the Highway Call album and the subsequent tour with Betts back in 1974. Through the years his playing added immensely to the many bands and artists he jammed with. This DVD was recorded at Seney Stovall Chapel in Athens, GA on December 18, 2004 with a supporting cast of stellar musicians very familiar to Hittin' the Note readers. The performance was an amazing event; filled to the brim with spontaneous jams, and will not soon be forgotten by those attending. Click here to find out more.

Thank you for your support of Hittin' the Note, and all the wonderful music we bring to you. Keep your eyes and ears open for more new, happening items, and support live music whenever you can.
