As you can see in the image to the left, the 2007 Summer Set cases are finally designed and in production! Each of these spectacular limited-edition wooden boxes will come in its own unique shade - from the deep burnished red to the light blonde grains of cedar. Hand stained with a clear varnish, each case will be individually numbered and chock full of specials that are only available with the Summer Set - like the Allman Brothers Band performance from this year's Farm Aid concert (featuring an extended "Statesboro Blues"), along with tour photos, a year's free subscription to Hittin' the Note magazine and several more goodies! A true collector's treasure chest of extraordinary music! Delivery is expected to the Hittin' the Note office in early December - we will keep you posted on the progress from Santa's elves! These are the best Summer Set cases we've ever produced - make sure not to miss out on yours!

We are also pleased to be able to offer the West's Best and West's Best El Grande packages in time for the holidays along with all of the individual shows from the past summer's tour! The West's Best set is six of the best shows of the summer (as determined by the Tour Mystic) for the price of five - featuring 15 CDs of music, and 48 different songs from the greatest improvisational band in the land. The El Grande is 12 concerts for the price of 10, and contains a mind-boggling 31 CDs with 62 different songs! Either one is a great overview of one of the strongest touring years in recent Allman Brothers history. Click here for more details!

Does life get much better than Wanee Fest? Maybe it does, but if so, we haven't experienced it! If you want to relive the Wanee 2007 experience, or you just want to find out what the buzz is about, help is on the way, thanks to the folks at JamCam Chronicles!

The JamCam crew captured powerful live versions of "Desdemona," "Who To Believe" and "Good Morning Little Schoolgirl" from the Allman Brothers Band, and this DVD also feature rockin' music by Oteil and the Peacemakers, Devon Allman's Honeytribe, Scrapomatic, Keller Williams, Rusted Root, the Radiators and Bonobos Convergence. In addition to the fantastic music footage, there will be great slice-of-life scenes from the festival, including some of the famous late night campground jams! JamCam always does a first-rate job of representing the overall festival experience, and it's all right here, live and in living color.

As if that wasn't enough, we have a special gift for those of you who order early. Everyone who participates in this pre-sale will get a 2007 Wanee souvenir program, while supplies last. This high quality, full-color booklet was a big hit at the festival, and makes a perfect companion piece to the Wanee DVD.

We have been told that we will receive these DVDs by December 15th - but we know that is cutting it close to Christmas. Sooooo, we don't want to over-promise or guarantee that we can get them to you before the Holidays, but we will do our utmost to try and make it happen! Click here to order your copy today!

Hittin' the Note loves to hook up our customers with cool prizes, and we are very jazzed to be co-promoting the New Year's Eve show at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia, with Scrapomatic, the North Mississippi Allstars and the amazing Soul Stew Revival, featuring Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi! So, for this holiday season, we are giving away two excellent seats, so one lucky customer can ring in the New Year with real style!

Here's how you enter and win - if you order any Derek Trucks, Susan Tedeschi or Scrapomatic merchandise from hittinthenote.com between now and December 1st, you'll be entered into a raffle to win two 4th row, dead-center seats for this memorable occasion! For simplicity's sake, this raffle will be exclusive to internet orders only - GOOD LUCK!!!

With Christmas right around the corner, this is the right time to think about holiday shopping, and we want to tell you about some exciting new products we have in stock! First, we have a new Christmas Peach ornament that is hand-painted, signed and numbered by Atlanta artist Melissa Millikan. Only 150 are being created, so click here to get yours now! Second, we're pleased to announce that two of the founding members of the Allman Brothers Band have some brand-new T-shirts! Jaimoe's delightful personality is captured perfectly with his new tee, and Gregory's men's and women's 2007 tour shirts are striking! Click here to check 'em out and to order.

We also wanted to remind you about Chuck Leavell's heartwarming Christmas CD, What's In That Bag? This collection of holiday classics and original tunes captures the magic of the season, and every Chuck Leavell fan should have a copy. His jazzy piano makes standards like "Greensleeves" and "O Christmas Tree" ring with joy, and he puts a bluesy spin on the season with tunes like "Joy Boogie" and "Even Santa Gets the Blues." You don't want to suffer through the same holiday mix CD you've been listening to for the past ten years, do you? Click here to pick up this Yuletide treasure - Christmas will never sound the same again!

Don't forget our new warm and cozy Eat a Peach throw! This spectacular work of textile art would look just as good hanging on your wall as it would on your sofa! Flournoy Holmes' and David Powell's visionary inside artwork from the classic Eat a Peach Album is still as wonderfully bizarre and interesting today as it was 35 years ago! Click here to order one for yourself, or the Allmaniac in your life!

Here is a preview of the Editor's notes for our holiday issue #55, coming out in early December:

2007 has been a banner year for Hittin' the Note magazine, so we would like to close it out by writing about what we love best; music and family, family and music. Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi; alone, each one is a formidable talent. Together, they are an unstoppable musical force. HTN's Joe Bell was able to speak separately to both members of the most gifted marriage on the music scene today, and what Derek and Susan had to say about their careers, their latest projects and especially each other is incredibly revealing. Mr. and Mrs. Trucks have combined their wonderfully funky bands together to form Soul Stew Revival, and after a very successful summer tour, they will ring in the New Year, Soul-Stew style, at Atlanta's Fox Theatre. Spend some time with Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi, alone and together, as they talk about their love for family and music. (To order tickets to this incredible event click here.)
Guitarist Steve Kimock is a major player on the jam scene, and his considerable abilities finally are gaining him some mainstream recognition. Steve first made his mark with the Bay Area band Zero, and he was fortunate enough to have had the chance to play with Quicksilver Messenger Service legend John Cipollina, who had a major influence on Steve. Earlier this year, Steve joined up with Bob Weir's Ratdog, and garnered rave reviews. Steve chatted with HTN's Rob Johnson about where he's been and where he's going with his music, and we know you'll enjoy this look at a free-form master. October 20th marked a sad anniversary in the music world; 30 years ago on that date Lynyrd Skynyrd's plane went down near McComb, Mississippi, forever changing the Southern rock landscape. Though things have never been the same, Skynyrd has persevered, and continues to play to dedicated fans across the country. As Ross Warner points out in "Rebels Fell," it is important to take a step back and appreciate what the music of the original Lynyrd Skynyrd meant three decades ago, and how it still resonates to this day.
Steve Parish is one of the fortunate few who managed to make his dreams become his life's work. As a 19-year-old kid, he hooked up with the Grateful Dead, and became an integral part of their legendary road crew. Eventually, Steve served as Jerry Garcia's guitar tech and road manager, and became Jerry's closest friend and confidant. In 2003, Steve published Home Before Daylight, his first-hand account of what it was like to be goin' down the road with the Grateful Dead. Steve currently works for Hard Truckers, an Atlanta-based company that manufactures customized road cases and speaker cabinets. We are pleased to present Steve Parish, still truckin' after all these years.
Guitarist Sam Holt of Outformation is living proof that if someone wants something bad enough, they can make it happen. Sam went from guitar tech for Widespread Panic to fronting his own band, but it didn't come easy. Sam credits Mike Houser, Panic's late guitarist, for pushing him to forge his own path in the jam scene, and with Outformation, Sam has done just that. Sam had an inspiring conversation with Tom Speed about going all the way out with Outformation, and it is with great pleasure that we welcome Tom, publisher of HonestTune.com to the HTN family.
In addition, we have our usual features, including Tom Clarke's "Compact Dreams" and Jamie Lee's "In Tune." This edition of Brian Shupe's "Photo Session" is called "Paintin' Session," as we display the very creative works of portrait artist Lennie Jones. Along with the HTN "6 Pack" and CD review sections, we have Allison Hersh's insightful recap of a new DVD release, The Pink Floyd and Syd Barrett Story. Sadly, we close out Issue #55 with a fitting tribute to Mike Callahan, the original soundman for the Allman Brothers Band, recalled by Kim Payne and Joseph "Red Dog" Campbell, Mike's partners in crimes too numerous to list.
That's all for issue #55. We hope that the holidays find you happy and healthy, and all of us cannot thank you enough for the loyal support shown to Hittin' the Note over the past 15 years.
