The second and final leg of the Allman Brothers Band's 2008 Tour is over, and it was nothing less than magical! Everyone from the fans to the band members themselves are saying this was the best tour this lineup has ever done, and it was a perfect appetizer for next year's 40th Anniversary blowout. Gregg Allman was healthy and back to 100%, playing and singing with power and passion, while Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks reached heights of guitar synchronicity not seen since the golden age of Duane Allman and Dickey Betts. Not to mention the rhythm section, which was laying down the bottom end with a vengeance all tour. The entire band played with an intensity and shared vision that rivals the best live music our jaded ears have ever heard.
Hittin' the Note has every CD in stock, so now is the time to place your order! We are also excited to announce the West Best (6 of the best shows for the price of 5) and West Best El Grande packages (12 of the best shows for the price of 10) as picked by the Tour Mystic, Kirk West. You can find out which shows were picked for these packages, read a description of each concert, review the set list as well as order by clicking here. If you have already ordered concerts from Hittin' the Note that are a part of these packages we will be happy to adjust the final price to reflect those purchases.
For those diehard fans who want to hear every song, every jam, every moment of musical perfection from this great tour - we salute you! And, we are now taking deposits for the 2008 Complete Set, which is expected to ship in early December. This year's package will be stored in a very stylish case and will include a year's subscription to Hittin' the Note magazine plus other rare and valuable tour goodies! To read all about the 2008 Complete Set, please click here. |
Speaking of goodies, we're happy to have two new
DVDs in stock from our friends at Gov't Mule and Evil Teen Records!
Tail of Two Cities features two complete shows, the first
show of the Deja Voodoo tour (10/15/04) and the last
show of the High and Mighty tour (12/9/06). The technical
problems that plagued the original pressing have been corrected,
and we're delighted to offer this document of the Mule at their
best, with two smoking-hot shows captured in their entirety on
this jumbo-sized audio/video extravaganza from the fine folks
at Evil Teen Records. As it turns out, Tail of Two Cities
becomes the definitive document of Andy Hess' time with the Mule,
given his recent departure, so this is a must-have for Hess fans.
We also have the latest installment in the series of excellent
releases from Warren Haynes Christmas Jam's in stock, Warren
Haynes Presents The Benefit Vol. 8. This DVD set is from
the 2006 Christmas Jam in Asheville, North Carolina, and features
all the unique collaborations and one-of-a-kind jams that the
yearly event is known for, like Branford Marsalis sitting in with
the John Popper Project. The New Orleans Social Club is fantastically
funky, country superstar Marty Stuart shows why he is a musical
legend, and as always at the Xmas Jam, you get a hearty helping
of Gov't Mule!
Over two and a half hours of music from some of the best
musicians around, with a portion of proceeds going to Habitat
for Humanity. It doesn't get any better! Click

Jeff
Wood of Drowning Creek Studios is the best rock poster artist
in America. He has been featured in books on poster art, and his
visionary designs have been used by everybody from the Allman
Brothers Band to the Rothbury Festival. Even so, many HTN readers
may know him best as the designer of many T-shirts, posters and
cover art for the Derek Trucks Band.
We just got a new shipment of posters from Drowning Creek, including
a lost stash of the much-coveted "Derek Trucks - Hittin' the
Note" portrait! These great designs are printed on only the
finest quality paper with an old-school, craftsman-like process,
and since we have limited quantities, they will surely go fast.

'em while you can! |

We're also pleased to offer some new ABB shirts, like the snazzy mushroom design from the 1981 World Tour - it's a real blast from the past! You can check out our New Stuff page for all the latest.

If
it's the last weekend of October, then it must be Magfest
time! Make sure to check out our booth by the Amphitheater Stage
while you enjoy such great musical acts as Donna the Buffalo,
Blueground Undergrass and Col. Bruce and the Quark Alliance. Magfest
also features a very special performance by Oteil Burbridge, Grateful
Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann and Max Creek guitarist Scott Murawski.
This trio of red-hot players has created a lot of buzz in a short
time playing together, and this will be their first festival gig
in the South, so their three-hour headlining set on Saturday night
is sure to be an event to remember! The fact that the festival
is held at the beautiful Spirit of Suwannee Music Park, HTN's
preferred festival venue, is the icing on the cake.
Click
here to get tickets, and we'll see you down upon the Suwannee
River! |
